Pretty 1878 English Sterling Hand Engraved Shears. Presented is a decorative pair of English sterling shears made by Henry Holland of London in 1878. The handles are in a neat ruffled form and are deeply hand engraved and chased with flower designs.
This whole piece is solid sterling and has good weight for its size. The shears are riveted tightly together. The piece is marked with the leopard's head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark of Queen Victoria's head, a date letter C for the year 1878, a maker's mark for Henry Holland and a retailer's mark for I.
