Antique 1843 English Sterling Silver Fiddle Lion Crest Gravy Sauce Ladle. Presented is an antique, English sterling silver very heavy gravy or sauce ladle made by George William Adams of Chawner & Company in 1843. This mid 19th century piece is done in a Fiddle pattern.

The front of the handle has a finely hand engraved crest of a rampant lion holding a double cross. The back is marked with the leopard's head for the city of London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark of Queen Victoria's head, a date letter h for the year 1843 and a maker's mark for George William Adams. This piece is in excellent overall condition. There is minor surface wear commensurate with age and light use, but there are no damages and no repairs.
