LONDON 1735-6y 12 sterling silver BREAD PLATES. I believe they are from ENGLAND of GEORGE II times and. Were made in 1735-6y in the city of LONDON. 9 plates from 12 are full marked. Hallmarks are clear as you can see in the photos, lion passant (sterling), leopard's head, an upper case "V" (1735-6y) and LONDON goldsmiths' mark - JS probably Jos. Sanders, page 195, The Book of OLD SILVER by SEYMOUR B. 3 plates of sterling silver of 12 aren't marked, but all of them are engraved with the same design. Usually this happened when they were ordered as extras and the craft master didn't carve assay marks because it took some time.
